After the wash, the finish gets a real wax applied by hand and power buffed out, not a spray-on. It puts the gloss back, and a sealed finish sheds the desert dust, so the next wash takes half the work. Tires and trim get dressed before we walk around it with you.
Our wax is applied by hand and buffed out with a power buffer, not sprayed on and wiped off. Hand application lets us work the wax into the whole surface evenly, including the front cap, rear wall and around every window, and the buffer brings up a deep gloss that a spray-on product cannot match. It takes longer, which is why we plan for a full day on a big rig and keep working until it is done.
Forest River's owner manual recommends waxing at least once a year with a standard liquid or paste wax, and it says to clean and wax the aluminum extrusions when waxing the sidewalls to help avoid surface pitting. We include those extrusions, the entry door and the compartment doors. In Arizona, where the UV index reaches the Extreme range in summer, that layer of wax is what stands between the sun and your gel coat.
A good coat of wax also makes every wash after it easier. Dust, bugs and road film sit on top of the wax instead of bonding to the finish, so they rinse off with less scrubbing. Many owners pair wax with a wash and hand dry, and we can do the tow pickup at the same time. We finish by dressing tires and trim so the whole rig looks complete when you step back.
